Please note that you must complete all Admissions Requirements as well as the portfolio requirements to be considered for admission. The Program in Character Animation supports animation focused on character development and narrative storytelling. The faculty admissions committee seeks portfolios that show evidence of strong, creative life drawing skills, artistic originality and the potential.
First Year Portfolio Requirements You should submit a portfolio of 8-12 pieces of artwork in any media or style demonstrating a consistent or developing body of work completed within the past 1-2 years. You may include examples of artwork in any media that emphasizes your artistic strengths. Your ideas, concepts and technical ability should be clearly represented in your portfolio.
To be considered for admission to a major in the School of Art and Design, you must submit a portfolio for evaluation by FIT faculty members. Below you will find the specific portfolio requirements for your chosen major. Only art and design applicants should submit a portfolio. Materials received for other majors will not be reviewed or considered.

Portfolio Prep for Freshman The portfolio is the most meaningful indicator of serious artistic commitment, ability, and potential to succeed in MICA's rigorous studio environment.
